Set Up a Dial-Up Connection in Windows 2000
Windows 2000, like Windows NT, is geared for professionals, not for the average home user. There are additional steps involved in setting up Dial-Up Networking which this does not cover! Please see Network walkthrough Win2000 to complete the dial up connection.
- Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel
- In the Control Panel, double-click Network and Dial-up Connections
- In the Network and Dial-up Connections window, double-click Make New Connection
- The Network Connection Wizard will open. Click Next
- Select Dial-up to the Internet. Click Next
- Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN). Click Next
- Select I connect through a phone line and a modem. Click Next
- Enter the dial-up access number. Uncheck Use area code and dialing rules
- Enter your username and password. Click Next
- Enter Visi.Net in the Connection name field. Click Next
- Select Yes if you want to set up your email account for Outlook or Outlook Express. Follow the procedures in the appropriate email setup section
- If you would like to immediately connect, check To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish. Click Finish
